Just ahead of Halloween, Australian DJ/vocalist GG Magree unveiled “Spit Love” today, a 12-minute horror film and companion piece to her album by the same name out next Wednesday, October 22.  The film is streaming on her YouTube channel.

Magree conceived, wrote, co-directed and starred in the film, which tells a gruesome tale of an exotic dancer who seduces and preys on her strip club patrons to satisfy her taste for human flesh.

Without any dialogue, the short piece is a psychological thriller -- leaving the audience with more questions about her than answers.

About both the film and the album, Magree said, “The world can be a dark place and the people you surround yourself with really outline who you become as a person...I slipped into relationships that mirrored that same violence, emotional, physical, spiritual abuse that left me hollow. And while I was trying to crawl out of that darkness, the world around me had the audacity to tell me to quiet down." She continues, "Love yourself -- hard. And let the world choke on it."

Magree previously starred in the unscripted film “Dead Hot: Season of the Witch,” where she and co-star Vanessa Hudgens set out to learn about witchcraft and connecting with the spirit world in Salem.

ABOUT GG MAGREE

Like some kind of glittering love witch, GG Magree conjures sex and death to create lyrical alchemy — with a hefty helping of joyful sleaze. Whether it be her one-on-one convos with the spirit world, or a new film in which she cosplays as a cannibal stripper, the electro-punk-loving Aussie is channeling it all on her first full-length LP, Spit Love, out October 22 on BMG/Rise.

Magree grew up in the heart of the Australian club scene; her dad owned one of the more historic gay clubs in the country, and she was celebrating birthdays there well before it was legal. Rubbing elbows with the likes of Steve Aoki, the Bloody Beetroots, and scene photographer the Cobrasnake (she was his muse), Magree toured and collaborated with EDM star NGHTMRE (they dropped “Frontlines” with Zeds Dead in 2016) and performed on stages at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra Music Festival.  She’s channeled those electronic roots into  heavy, powerful industrial sound in her new music.
