THE JASON MRAZ FOUNDATION PRESENTS “DREAM,”

A COMMUNITY CONCERT EVENT FEATURING FIVE INCLUSIVE SAN DIEGO ARTS NONPROFITS:

JASON MRAZ, MILCK, RAUL MIDON, AND SINGER/SONGWRITER ALBERT POSIS TO JOIN LOCAL STUDENT PERFORMERS FEBRUARY 14 AND 15 AT CALIFORNIA CENTER FOR THE ARTS;

TICKETS ON SALE OCTOBER 24 AT 10 AM 

The Jason Mraz Foundation today announced “Dream,” the third community concert event presented by the foundation featuring San Diego area performers of all abilities.  The two shows, February 14 at 7 PM and February 15 at 3 PM at California Center for the Arts, Escondido, will for the first time feature guest performers in addition to Jason Mraz, including Los Angeles singer/songwriter and activist MILCK, blind singer/songwriter jazz and folk guitarist Raul Midón, and Filipino-American singer/songwriter/musician Albert Posis.  Tickets will be available via JasonMraz.com Friday, October 24 at 10:00 AM PT at a community-friendly cost of $25 plus processing fees thanks to the support of community partners.

All organizations participating in the performance are beneficiaries of grants from the Jason Mraz Foundation, whose mission it is to shine for inclusive arts education, the advancement of equality, and food security.  The five selected groups, listed below, support students of all abilities and backgrounds. 

  • Arms Wide Open

    • Mission: Arms Wide Open enriches the lives of children and adults with special needs by fostering caring social environments and creating opportunities for recreation and participation in the arts. People of all ages, from throughout San Diego County, participate in its programs. AWO doesn't deny services to any student based on their disability but adapts classes to help all special needs students gain coordination skills, improve balance, mobility, critical thinking, problem solving, concentration, speech and facilitate creativity as they learn and participate in the arts.

  • Art of Elan

    • Mission: The mission of Art of Elan is to build community through music and enrich the cultural life of San Diego by presenting exciting and exceptional chamber music concerts, simultaneously educating and exposing diverse audiences to classical music through innovative programming, the commissioning of new works, unique performance venues and personal connections with concertgoers.

  • Culture Shock San Diego

    • Mission: Culture Shock® utilizes dance to cultivate education, entertainment and empowerment to inspire positive change in the communities we serve.

  • San Diego Young Artists Music Academy

    • Mission: The San Diego Young Artists Music Academy is to enhance the lives of children and youth, of all ethnic backgrounds, in our community through music, and academic tutoring as a deterrent to the drugs and violence that is prevalent in our community

  • PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Company

    • Mission: PASACAT's mission is to preserve and promote Asian Pacific culture through the arts, thereby, extending goodwill and enhancing cultural understanding.

“It was always my hope that this event would blossom into a multi-artist community celebration of the arts,” said Mraz. “It’s an honor and a privilege for all of us to share the stage together; creating harmony through collaboration, unity through diversity, and peace through playfulness.”
