Australian DJ/vocalist/filmmaker GG Magree today revealed Spit Love, her debut album out through Rise Records/BMG.  She also shared a visualizer for the song “Siren” on the album.

The album follows a short horror film released last week that Magree conceived, wrote, co-directed and starred in, which tells a gruesome tale of an exotic dancer who seduces and preys on her strip club patrons to satisfy her taste for human flesh.

The album and the film both emerged during a personal metamorphosis for Magree, who found the creative process empowering, giving her the courage to embrace and fully express herself after toxic relationships.

“The world can be a dark place and the people you surround yourself with really outline who you become as a person...I slipped into relationships that mirrored that same violence, emotional, physical, spiritual abuse that left me hollow. And while I was trying to crawl out of that darkness, the world around me had the audacity to tell me to quiet down."

Magree continues, “My mission is to hold space for women, queer people and every soul who’s ever been told they’re too sexy, too loud, too wild and to stop taking up space. I feel like I was put on the planet to shatter the shame around female rage and sexual freedom. A voice for the hyper-sexualized, abused and underestimated. For the woman told to ‘calm down’ and the queer kids told to ‘cover up.’ I make art that bleeds, screams, seduces and liberates. I don’t make music to be liked — I make it to be free.”

Following the release of her video for “Wet Dreams” set at a sex rave, Paper magazine said, “If it’s any indication of the rest of the record’s visual, thematic and music offerings, GG Magree will paralyze audiences with her upcoming debut,” and in a cover story, Mundane called the album “a record that bleeds with anger, lust, wit, and vulnerability in equal measure.”

Magree recently discussed everything from embracing one’s sexuality to talking to the spirit world on comedian Abigail Jensen’s “Rat Girls” podcast.

On October 30, Magree will perform at New York City’s iconic House of Yes in honor of the album release.  For tickets or more information, click here.

ABOUT GG MAGREE

GG Magree grew up in the heart of the Australian club scene; her dad owned one of the more historic gay clubs in the country, and she was celebrating birthdays there well before it was legal. Rubbing elbows with the likes of Steve Aoki, the Bloody Beetroots, and scene photographer the Cobrasnake (she was his muse), Magree toured and collaborated with EDM star NGHTMRE (they dropped “Frontlines” with Zeds Dead in 2016) and performed on stages at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra Music Festival.  She’s channeled those electronic roots into  heavy, powerful industrial sound in her new music.
