Alt-rock phenoms Dexter and The Moonrocks today announced their upcoming new EP, “Happy To Be Here,” as well as the “Happy To Be (Everyw)Here Tour.”

The four small-town-Texas friends are back with a new EP, out May 7. In what is turning out to be their most focused and powerful EP to date, the six-track collection is led by “Ritalin” - a  stadium-ready anthem that is already climbing the charts and captures a band fully coming into their own.

Proving their fearless sound can go head-to-head with the biggest names in rock, Dexter and The Moonrocks are also hitting the road in support of “Happy To Be Here,” on the “Happy To Be (Everyw)Here Tour.” Currently announced dates stop in Missouri, Tennessee, New Mexico, Arizona, and everywhere in between (including the iconic Warped Tour in Long Beach, CA in July).

Pre-sales for the “Happy To Be (Everyw)Here Tour” begin on March 31, 2025 with the public on-sale starting on April 2. For more information on the tour and how to purchase tickets, visit https://www.dexterandthemoonrocks.com/tour

“Say I…”, the most recent release from “Happy to Be Here,” went live earlier this week. The  second single from the new EP is a raw, hard-hitting addition to the band’s growing list of successes. Accompanying the song, Dexter and The Moonrocks also released a gritty new video shot in the iconic Fort Worth, Texas bar, Billy Bob’s Texas. The video is a perfect blend of the distinctive mix of rock and country–complete with flannel clad line dancers, a rodeo arena, and a 10-gallon-hat filled bar brawl–that the band has become known for.

‘Happy To Be Here’ is a little more emotional and feels more personal than ‘Western Space Grunge’,” says guitarist Ryan Anderson. “And with both EPs on the new vinyl, you can really hear the difference between the two. On ‘Happy to Be Here,’ you can hear how we’re grappling with the industry and everything that comes with what we’re doing outside of just playing guitar, but also how everything keeps getting better and better at the same time.”

To accompany the EP, and to the delight of their fans, Dexter and The Moonrocks are also releasing their first ever vinyl titled “The Double EP.” Side A features all tracks from Happy to Be Here and Side B showcases songs from the group’s breakout hit EP “Western Space Grunge.” The limited edition vinyl pre-orders went live on March 27 and the initial stock sold out in 15 minutes. Vinyl pre-orders are now open to the public and can be placed here

“Happy to Be Here” comes on the tails of multiple breakout singles and follows the surprise success of “Sad in Carolina,” the band’s first radio single from their 2024 EP “Western Space Grunge.” The single took the former fry cook, oil field operator, concrete surface decorator and kids’ baseball coach from small town Texas to the top of the alternative rock charts, knocking superstars Sum 41 out of the coveted top slot. As the first band signed by Severance Records, Dexter and The Moonrocks’ “Sad in Carolina” marked the first #1 for the label as well as its parent label, Big Loud Rock.

After the success of “Sad in Carolina,” they’ve gone on to a surprise viral hit with the band’s live cover of Tyler Childers’ “Messed Up Kid,” which averaged 900,000 streams per week following its release last fall. Whiskey Riff claimed the band proved that their cover of Childers’ unreleased gem “was destined to be a rock song.” Alternative Press said of the band, “Noah Kahan and Zach Bryan inform the band as much as Soundgarden and Pink Floyd, which is reflected in their distinctive sound.”

ABOUT DEXTER AND THE MOONROCKS Dexter and The Moonrocks didn’t set out to change rock music - but that’s exactly what they’re doing. A fry cook, an oil field operator, a concrete surface decorator, and a kids’ baseball coach came together in West Texas, blending the country and western of their childhoods with the grunge they fell in love with as teenagers. That fusion became Western Space Grunge - a genre of their own making that turned them from a grassroots phenomenon into a force to be reckoned with.

They first broke through in 2021 with "Couch," a melancholy slow-burn that resonated deeply with fans and set the foundation for what was to come. That early momentum caught the attention of Severance Records, an imprint of Big Loud Rock, looking to make a statement with its first signing. Together, they released "Western Space Grunge" in July 2024, solidifying the band’s identity and introducing their most defining songs yet. The breakout single "Sad in Carolina" took them from small-town bars to seven weeks at No. 1 on U.S. Alternative radio, proving their DIY grit and fearless sound could go head-to-head with the biggest names in rock.

Now, with their new EP, “Happy to Be Here,” Dexter and The Moonrocks are stepping into their moment, where a cult favorite becomes the “next big thing.” Led by “Ritalin” - a stadium-ready anthem already climbing the charts - the record captures a band fully coming into their own. From viral covers to festival stages, they’re proving they’re not just next up: they’re inevitable.
